Porto is one of the oldest cities in the world. It is known worldwide for the very famous Port Wine, classified in 1996 by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. It is the city that gave its name to Portugal - from very early on (c. 200 BC), when it was called Portus Cale, later becoming the capital of the Condado Portucalense, from which Portugal was formed. It is still a city known worldwide for its wine, its bridges and contemporary and ancient architecture. Whoever visits the city of Porto, naturally has to visit the Historic Centre, the S. Bento station, the Palácio da Bolsa, the Igreja de S. Francisco, A Papelaria Lello and the famous Torre dos Clérigos. But if you want to discover its more contemporary side, you should visit the Serralves Museum or Casa da Música.
